Single disc opener uses one blade to cut a slot, with fertilizer or seed tube behind. Good for no-till and sod. Less weight, easier to penetrate hard ground.
Double disc opener uses two blades at a slight angle (V-shape) to form a clean seed furrow. Industry standard for conventional tillage planting. Higher weight, more accurate seed placement.
13 inch for twin-row planters (sugar beet, vegetable). 15 inch for most row-crop planters. 16 inch for John Deere MaxEmerge, Kinze. 18 inch for heavy no-till or fertiliser coulters. Match the diameter to your seed tube and depth-gauge wheel.
