The right hose depends on three things: the fluid being conveyed, the working pressure, and the temperature. A mismatched hose leads to premature failure and downtime.
Hydraulic circuits — SAE 100R1AT for medium pressure; SAE 100R2AT for high pressure; SAE 100R12 / EN 856 4SP for very high pressure or high-impulse cycles.
Compressed air — PU or nylon pneumatic hose with quick-connect fittings; choose larger diameters (10–12 mm) for longer runs to avoid pressure drop.
Water & slurry transfer — spiral-plied PVC or rubber suction / discharge hose, rated for vacuum at the suction end.
Chemicals — UHMWPE or EPDM inner liner, EN 12115 chemical hose; confirm compatibility with the specific chemical.
SAE 100R1 has one steel-wire braid (medium pressure, ~160 bar). SAE 100R2 has two braids (high pressure, ~280 bar). Match the hose to your system’s max working pressure plus a safety factor.
