How to Source Combine Harvester Parts from China: A Buyer's Guide

Combine harvesters use dozens of wear parts that dealers, distributors and importers buy by the carton every harvest season. Sourcing them from China directly can cut cost 30–60%, but only if you know what to ask for. This guide covers the parts to focus on, how to match them, MOQ expectations and the logistics flow.

1. Parts that are worth sourcing from China

• Cutting parts — knife sections, knife guards, ledger plates, cutting bars.
• Drives & power transmission — V-belts, timing belts, roller chains and matching sprockets.
• Bearings — deep groove ball, tapered roller, agricultural bearings (disc harrow / plough).
• Seals — TC / NBR oil seals, O-rings, hydraulic seals, dust seals.
• PU / rubber parts — PU rollers, rubber dampers, spring tines.
• Fasteners — hex bolts, nuts, washers, U-bolts, self-tapping screws.

2. How to match OEM

For knife sections and guards, send the OEM part number stamped on the old part (or the combine model). For belts and chains, the OEM code on the belt itself or the chain pitch / number of rows. For bearings, the shaft diameter or bearing code (6204, 30206, etc.). For oil seals, the bore / OD / width in mm.

3. MOQ and pricing

MOQ varies by part:

• Knife sections — 100–500 pieces per part number (factory run).
• V-belts — 50–200 pieces per size.
• Roller chains — 10–50 m per pitch.
• Oil seals — 100–500 pieces per size.
• Bearings — 50–200 pieces per series.
• Fasteners — cartons of 25–50 kg per size.

Most suppliers accept mixed carton orders when parts are similar. Ask for the price list with size-and-quantity tiers.

4. Quality checks before shipping

Ask for:

• Material certificate (steel grade, rubber hardness).
• Dimensional report with measurements against drawing or sample.
• Hardness test for knife sections and chains.
• Pre-shipment photos or short video of the batch.
• Sample units from the production batch before container loading.

5. Shipping and payment

For small trial orders (<1 m³), air freight or courier (DHL/FedEx) is fastest. For full pallets / containers, sea freight FOB Qingdao with CIF option. Standard payment is 30% T/T deposit, 70% balance against copy of B/L. L/C at sight is also common for orders above USD 20,000.
